History of GAAJ-ZENHOKYO

1965 Opened the office in Harajuku, Shibuya, Tokyo, under the name “Zen Nihon Houseki Kyokai”.
1968 Delegated FGA exam in Japan by GAGTL.
First to start the seminar on gemmology in Japan.
1969 Moved the head office to Biho-Kaikan in Akashicho, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, and changed the company name to “Gemmological Association of All Japan (GAAJ).Launched a new gemmological magazine “GEMMOLOGY”.
1970 Participated in the International Gemmological Conference (IGC) for the first time.Opened the Osaka branch in Chuo-ku, Osaka.
1974 Joined the establishment of “the Gemmological Society of Japan”
1977 Started GAGTL home study courses of gemmology in Japanese.
1980 Opened the Fukuoka branch in Fukuoka-city.
1981 Installed an X-ray fluorescence analytical device in research laboratory.
Held the 18th IGC in Japan with the cooperation of the industry and GAAJ alumni association.
1984 Installed a laser tomography device in research laboratory.
1986 Established Gemmological Association of All Japan as a business corporation.
1990 Held the 25th anniversary ceremony at the Imperial Hotel.
1991 Established GAAJ Israel Co. Ltd., in Ramat Gan, Israel.
1994 Opened a public bonded warehouse and started inspection services.
Installed a luminoscope in research laboratory.
Started issuing the world-first diamond resume, “Diamond Fingerprint”.
Start issuing a “Gemstone Analysis Report”, which scientifically detects enhancements in corundum.
1995 Held the 6th general meeting of International Coloured stone Association (ICA) in Tokyo, and GAAJ was elected as an official laboratory.
1996 Published a technical gemstone identification book “Gems-Their internal science?-The world of major gemstones -“
1997 Opened the Tokyo headquarters office in Taito-ku, Tokyo.
1999 Published a technical gemstone identification book “Gems-Their internal science?-The world of unique gemstones–“
2000 The first gemmological laboratory in Japan to install a Raman spectroscope at the research laboratory.
Moved the headquarters office and administrative headquarters to Daiwa-Ueno Bldg, Taito-ku, Tokyo.
Opened website of GAAJ.
2001 Started mediation service for laser inscription on diamond.
Moved the head office to Daiwa-Ueno Bldg., Taito-ku, Tokyo.
2002 Moved the Osaka branch to Osaka-Toyoda Bldg in Minami-senba, Chuo-ku, Osaka.
Renewal of Gemstone Analysis Report, cover design for laboratory reports and design for sorting memo.
Started printing the issue date on all reports according to the decision of AGL.
2003 Installed a LA-ICP-MS mass spectrometer in research laboratory. (The first in the world as a private laboratory.)
Released a “Character Report”
describing an individual character of a gemstone.
Started plotting service on a GAAJ diamond grading report.
Produced “GAAJ Lab. Reports Guide”, a handbook explaining various analysis reports.
2004 Started FGA Foundation home study course in Japanese.
Installed a UV Laser Raman spectroscope in research laboratory.
Renewal of design for Gem Identification Report.
Assisted and supported the special exhibition “Jadeite-Treasure of Orient” held at the National Science Museum.
2005 Installed a Laser Induced Breakdown Spectrometry in research laboratory. (The first gemmological laboratory in Japan.)
